Millard Public Schools
Vibrant, rapidly growing suburban
neighborhoods have propelled the Millard Public Schools into one of the
fastest growing school systems in the state. The Millard School District was
established more than 100 years ago, eventually consolidating with seven rural
school districts to reach its present size of 35 square miles in Douglas and
Sarpy counties. Millard now provides neighborhood schools for more than 18,000
students and is Nebraska's third largest public school system. Over the next
five to ten years, we expect an additional 3,000 students to walk through our
doors.
About 90% of school-age children in our
district attend Millard Public Schools, attesting to community confidence
in the school system. Many of our teachers and administrators are national
leaders in education and hold offices in professional associations, publish
books and articles, and lead curriculum seminars and teacher workshops. More
than half of our teachers hold advanced degrees; more than half have served the
district for ten years or more. Superior teachers and strong academic programs
have given the district a reputation of excellence.
Millard uses strategic planning to
determine and shape its future. The process ensures that our resources are
used most wisely to provide all students with the highest quality education.
Careful planning has made Millard the leader among comparable school districts
in a six-state area in allocating the highest percentage of funds to pupil
instruction and the lowest percentage to administrative costs. A wide cross
section of the community - students, parents, teachers and business leaders -
is involved in strategic planning to make Millard Schools the best in the
country!
The mission of the Millard Public
Schools, the leader in an educational partnership with students, home and
community, is to ensure all students learn the skills, knowledge and attitudes
necessary for responsible living in a changing global society; this will be
accomplished by a staff dedicated to excellence in a safe, caring
environment.
